Haida Tribal Tattoos And Modern Use

Native American tribal tattoos were commonplace hundreds of years ago but did not really translate into modern use until recently. There seems to be quite a few making it onto the popular list at the moment though, and many of them happen to be Haida tribal tattoos.

The Haida occupied the Northwest United States and tended to focus their tattoo designs on astrology, which was extremely important to them back then. Tribal tattoos included bears, thunderbirds, fish and beavers amongst other creatures, all of which were revered by the Natives. They were shown in masculine ways because the animal in the tattoo then apparently lent its strength to the individual. Letís face it, we could all use a little extra strength from time to time.
